My Final Titles
Here are my final titles! After weeks of work i have finally finished the titles. I hope you enjoy!!
Costumes
For my opening, I have chosen to portray my character running through the park. She is wearing appropriate clothing as she is wearing running leggings, and a dri fit top. You would see someone wearing this who would be heavily interested in running, keeping fit and going to the gym. I felt that the costume was important as it showed that the event of running through the park was not a one-off event that the character would go through, but it was part of her daily routine and that if she was wearing appropriate clothing it would show her dedication to the activity.
My Ident
Here, i have used final cut pro to produce my very own ident that i will use in the opening of my sequence.
Ident Research
We usually see idents at the beginning of a film to show the different production companies associated wi

Questionnaire Target Market Survey Results and Analysis
Survey Results
Analysis
Q1) What is your gender?
As you can see from the results my audience was an almost even mixture of both male and female. This would mean that my film would have to appeal to both men and woman.
Q2) How old are you?
81.82% of my target market was between the age of 15-18. this would mean my film would have to meet rules and regulations in order for my film to classified as a '15'. 13.64% of people who answered the questionnaire were between the ages of 19-30. this works out at only three people, compared to 81.82% that works out to 18 people. Only 4.55% were between the ages of 31-40, which worked out as a one person. No one who took part in the questionnaire were 41-50 or 51+, this would mean that the horror genre appeals to the younger audience rather than an older, mature audience. Overall my target audience would attract a younger audience. This means it must be relatable to the the teenage market. To achieve this, i could perhaps change the age of my characters or the theme of my horror.
Q3) What sub-genre of horror do you prefer?
As you can see, I chose 10 popular sub-genre of horror to choose from. I also gave the option to 'add comments' so people could comment other sub-genres that were not an option or if they cared to elaborate.
My results clearly show that Supernatural was considered the most preferred sub-genre of horror with psychological horror following a close second with only 4.55% between them working out at 1 person. i felt as it was important to include both supernatural and psychological aspects within my movie theme as they were both popular contenders.
Other sub-genre choices did not do so well. An example of this is Gothic, as out of the 22 people who took part in the survey, nobody preferred the gothic sub-genre. this was predicted in my horror research as Gothic was more popular in the early 20th century rather than later on towards the present.
out of 22 people, only 1 person commented In the add comment section. They commented "Black Comedy (Dark humour not black people)", this may be hard to combine the film into a comedy-horror and turning the film into a hybrid genre.

Primary Research Questionnaire
Using surveymonkey, i have created a questionnaire to help me with my horror target audience. I have designed questions to answer both psychographical and demographical questions.
Horror Genre Research
For this task, I had to conduct my own research within the horror genre and its certificate rating's. For my research I have looked in detail at the development of horror films, the iconography of horror, certificate ratings and sub-genres within horror.
1. History of horror timeline
http://horror.about.com/od/horrorthemelists/ss/horrortimeline.htm
http://www.horrorfilmhistory.com/index.php?pageID=early
For my first piece of research, I looked into key horror movies throughout time looking from 1896 to the present day. I looked into how film patterns have changed over the past 100+ years and how themes, and certain aspect of film has changed. An example of this would be, some horror titles such as 'King Kong' (1933) would be considered horror in its time, but would no longer class as horror during today's film market. I have looked at different type of film, including British and International cinema to see if any aspects were different or the same compared to thee typical stereotype of horror.Completing this task, I found it very interesting researching different varieties of horror and how trends have established through time. It has widened my knowledge of the horror genre already, just by identifying sub-genre trends and how audiences reactions and audience taste has changed.
I decided to use the programme 'Dipity' to create a timeline 'flipbook' of Horror. I felt, visually that it would be clearer to see how film had changed since time had passed. Also, it allows you to view the original trailer of the film, and some allow you to watch the full feature length film.
*Please note: trailers and full-length feature films that were used in this research are not my own, but belong to others on youtube.
2. Iconography

Iconography of horror was the second are that I explored into. I searched on line 'Iconography of Horror' and found a variety of websites to extract information from. I presented my results in a short power point as I felt it clearly showed the results and research that I had gathered.

4. Sub-genres of horror
AS Media - Preliminary Task
For our preliminary task, we had to film a short sequence that had the requirements of 180 degree rule, shot-reverse-shot and match on action. The scenario shown in the short video shows two friends having a conversation.
In order to film, we used two tripod's and two camera's to film. This was useful to us as the shots filmed were consistent, each frame was consistent to the last. This is was useful as it reassured that we had used 'match on action' when the two girls bumped into each other and that 180 degree rule and shot-reverse-shot were met when they began to sit down and talk.
We filmed our preliminary task in the school canteen, although we did not want it to look as if we had filmed in a school canteen. to achieve this, we filmed in a small corner of the canteen and attempted not to film a large majority on the canteen and focus on the person whom was in the shot at the time. Although the shot does look as if it were set in a school canteen.
If i could improve anything, it would be the sound quality. in the sequence there is a lot of background noise present which is very over powering and in some incidents it overpowering the sound of the speech. You can also tell that background noise is present as when the shot cuts from one person to another you can here the stop-start pausing effect which is off-putting. Also as well as background noise, as we were not alone, the sound has picked up other people who were in the canteen who where talking while we were talking. This made it hard to understand as with us talking, the white noise and others around us talking it made it very hard to understand and what to focus on.
180 Degree Rule, Shot Reverse Shot & Match on Action
180 Degree Rule
The 180 degree rule is a guideline that should be followed when filming between 2 people or objects. On the 'Line of Vision' shown on the image above, it is preferred if both camera's are both within 180 degree's of each other (creating the 180 degree rule). If the camera's are more than 180 degree's apart, it may cause confusion as if would appear if two people were in a conversation, they would both appear to be standing/sitting on the same side.
Examples can be seen here *
Shot Reverse Shot
Shot Reverse Shot shows one character is appeared to be looking at another character. Since the two different characters are both facing opposite directions the audience assume that the two characters are facing each other.
Examples can be seen here *
Match-On-Action
Match-on-action shows something happening in a scene, but when the shot is cut, the same scene is occurring in the next shot. This delivers continuity and clearly shows what is happening.

Shot and Angle types
For this task, in groups we had to show off basic camera and angle shots through a storyboard for a short story. We had to plan out the storyboard to ensure that we could show the story over 8 different shots. Our 8 different shots included close up shot, extreme close up shot, medium shot, long shot, high angle, low angle, point of view and eye view. In our groups we were given a camera, tripod and a different movie genre's to re-create. For our story, we showed a romance genre. The storyboard shows a girl waiting for time to pass by before she gets to see her boyfriend again.
2 Minute Film Opening Analysis
In this task, I had to analyse the first 2 opening minutes of a horror film. I decided to analyse the film 'Cabin In The Woods'. I used the on line subscription 'Netflix' in order to view the movie. I would use this 2 minute analysis to help me establish my own opening of my horror sequence.
